Open Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam

½ lb. spray polyurethane foam insulation is an open-cell, two component, low density, water-blown system specifically designed for insulation applications. This technologically advanced, economical insulation system provides improved occupant comfort, a cleaner indoor environment, greater noise reduction and superior energy savings over conventional insulation systems.

Unique Properties: ½ lb. spray polyurethane foam insulation expands 120:1 from its original liquid state, filling cracks, voids, crevices and building cavities to provide a climate controlled building environment. By mitigating airflow through and within walls (infiltration and ex-filtration), heat and cold transfer (also called thermal conductivity) moisture accumulation in the building materials are reducing the chance for mold and mildew to accumulate, populate and grow. It also minimizes the transfer of sound.

Stability: ½ lb. SPF will not settle, shrink, or deteriorate, and it is guaranteed to retain its R-value and noise-reduction qualities over the life of your home.

Recommended Uses: ½ lb. insulation may-be used for residential, commercial or industrial structures. It can also be applied to the underside of roof decks to form conditioned attic, or in non-vented crawl spaces for greater energy savings. SPF is code supported, and JHMorrow is a highly experienced licensed SPF Contractor.

Environmentally Friendly: ½ lb. SPF is a green insulation product developed from natural resources, as well as a friendly blowing agent with zero Ozone Depletion.

Maximum Comfort: When designing your new home or renovating an existing one’s, it is important to think about the value of comfort and quality. There are several other insulation options, but only one that has the quality and high performance efficiency for your home.

  • Outperforms fiberglass batting insulation by 3-4 times

  • Makes an airtight seal by expanding in place

  • Minimizes the transfer of sound

  • The workhorse of all spray foam products

  • Saves the environment and your wallet

  • Allows applications for unvented attic spaces

  • A partial airflow barrier, reducing dust and pollen

Closed Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam

2 lb. SPF is a high density, closed-cell spray polyurethane insulation. This two-part liquid system quickly expands to fill all gaps and voids. It then cures to form a fully adhered, solid, monolithic insulation envelop. The resulting insulation barrier offers many benefits that standard fiberglass insulation cannot match nor obtain.

Efficiency: SPF 2 lb. foam’s R-value is approximately R-6.8 per inch, compared to fiberglass batting insulation which is about R-3.5. SPF’s ability to stop air infiltration and eliminate convective looping saves the homeowner (you) an estimated 40% on energy bills. SPF insulation makes your house a more comfortable home for your family!

Structural Rigidity: SPF also adds structural rigidity to your project. In a test conducted by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, it was concluded that a 2” x 4” wall sprayed with polyurethane foam insulation had two times the racking strength of a wall filled with fiberglass batting insulation.

Environmentally Friendly: Besides its dramatic energy savings, SPF is formulated from renewable agricultural resources and uses a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly blowing agent with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). JHMorrow is leading the way for owner-builders to build green homes!

Comfort: The closed-cell, fully adhered structure of 2 lb. SPF forms a low permeance air seal that blocks air infiltration, noise pollution and water vapor movement. Often the need for additional air barriers and vapor barriers is totally eliminated. By controlling water vapor, condensation will not occur, thus eliminating the moisture that supports mold growth. Our manufacturers blend an anti-microbial component into the SPF to additionally inhibit bacterial growth.

  • Adds racking strength to walls

  • A vapor barrier when installed in all cavities

  • Your house becomes a conditioned living space throughout

  • Will last the life of your home

  • Custom fit to your home

Spray Foam Attics

It is estimated that 60% of home’s energy loss is out of its attic space. The main reason for this is due to airflow. When your attic is vented, it allows airflow into and out of your home. Hot air rises and it goes up to your attic, then out.

With spray foam insulation, we spray directly to your roof decking, as seen in the photo. By spraying the roof decking, we make your attic space a non-vented conditioned living space. This can save you from 20% to 40% in energy costs.

Case study: JHMorrow re-insulated an 80-year-old home in Davis, California. The job took three days and the outside temp ranged from 102 – 104 degrees. The first day we removed all of the old insulation. The current attic temp was 130 degrees while the house was 99 degrees inside.

The second day we installed SPF in the attic. The attic was 125 degrees and inside was 95 degrees.

The third day, we installed an ignition barrier. The temp outside was 104, while the attic temp was only 89 degrees and the house was 90 degrees with no air conditioner assistance.

  • Strengthens building structures and offers added resistance to earthquake damage

  • SPF is more expensive on the front end, but more efficient in the long run

Flash & Batt Insulation

Flash and batt is a perfect way to add foam to an estimate and also keep the fiberglass portion the same.

Example: 1” to 2” of closed cell foam and then a fiberglass batt are used to reach the desired R- value. We can also install closed cell as a vapor barrier.

We’ve recommended J. H. Morrow to all our friends and neighbors. Jason’s crew arrived early every day and performed their work efficiently and professionally. The entire process was an example of craftsmen taking pride in their work. We were so comfortable with the crew and their foreman that we left our home open to them while running errands.
